Mexico’s Velas Resorts continues to raise the bar on wellness for travelers into maintaining a healthy lifestyle even when they’re on the road. Late this year, the 306-suite Grand Velas Los Cabos will elevate offerings as it opens with a new 35,000-square-foot Leading Spa brimming with innovative touches and authentic treatments.
The two-level facility will feature 16 treatment rooms – some with a water view – for therapies offering latest technologies and utilizing “products of the Earth” that represent a Mexican culture tradition. Among other planned perks will be a guided water journey, en-suite treatments for kids and teens, a salon, barbershop and bridal suite.
“The spa will appeal to both resort guests in need of a quick recharge by the pool as well as those looking to fully embrace wellness during their travels,” said Josselyn De la Mora Alvarado, spa director. “From five-minute Spa Moments poolside to day-long pre-wedding experiences, there will be something relaxing for everyone.”
Signature treatments will be centered on the pre-Columbian ancestral healing benefits of Mexico’s native Blue Agave plant. The most anticipated highlight, however, is the seven-step water journey within a eucalyptus-scented steam room replete with polar pool, aromatherapy sensory shower, whirlpool, sauna, chromotherapy and multi-sensory pool.
At the journey’s end, guests recline on heated loungers with cucumbers on the eyes, warm neck pillows and cool scented towels to make certain that their body is fully relaxed for a treatment.
Guests can soak in the bliss on carved stone chaises with jets set beneath the water’s surface. A spa valet provides personalized direction to make all spa-goers who have treatments of at least 50 minutes take advantage of such touches as alternating various hot and cold rooms and pools, and how long to linger within them.
“Our spa valets provide personalized direction to make sure guests get the most out of the relaxing hydrotherapy experience— such as how to alternate the various hot and cold rooms and pools, and how long to linger in them—which might otherwise be a bit mystifying,” says De la Mora Alvarado.
She adds that a half-dozen over-the-top Wellness Suites will complemented with additional amenities for those seeking a complete wellness-oriented vacation. The two-level beauties with lofted ceilings are also spruced up with a spa concierge, Life Fitness recline bike, personal juice bars, crudité mini-bar, Vitamin C sprinkler and aromatherapy kit.
Other services include a men’s barber shop, beauty salon, spa boutique, Life Fitness center, Spa Moments poolside and upon arrival and rooftop meditation garden. Aside from guests of the beachfront resort, the spa will be available to the public with advance reservations.
